Dateline Hebron, Ohio June 2003; Brian, Melissa, Ty, Faith, and Hope Harkness move to Hebron, Ohio to start a new church for The United Methodist Ministries.

Hello, I am Pastor Brian Harkness and I was chosen by the Bishop of the West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church to start a new United Methodist Church in the Hebron, Ohio / Pataskala, Ohio area.

My wife, Melissa, and I grew up just east of Hebron, Ohio along State Route 40, also known as The National Road. We attended West Muskingum Schools and continued our education in Zanesville, Ohio where I received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Ohio University.

Melissa and I were married in 1991 and, shortly thereafter, moved to Kentucky where I attended seminary and received a master of divinity degree. In 1995 I was appointed to Racine United Methodist Church in Racine, Ohio near the banks of the Ohio River.

For our current assignment, we moved to Hebron, Ohio in June, 2003 and set up a home in the Dominion Homes sub-division along South High Street. Our daughters attend Lakewood Schools where, Faith is in 12th grade, and Hope is in 9th grade. Our son Tyler is married and is enlisted in the Air Force.  Melissa works for the Lakewood School System as a secretary.

We have felt very welcomed as we have come to know area pastors and citizens. These are hard working, incredibly wonderful people that serve their churches and community with enthusiasm. We are honored to join them in reaching out to the community and are very happy to be here. I look forward to meeting you and I thank you in advance on behalf of my family and myself.
